Vintage guitar speakers are back to capture the vintage tones of classic guitar speaker. However, we do not call them vintage guitar speakers, because that term can refer to the older originals, which are usually in used condition by now. New vintage guitar speakers are recently manufactured guitar speakers that meet the specifications and tone and/or sound as closely as possible while also meeting the demands of a modern speaker. In our ads on eBay, (which is exclusively where we sell), we either include links to the manufacturer’s explanation (or we ourselves explain) these derivations so that you know what tone to expect.  We also try to provide tone samples.

Vintage Guitar Speakers – Back By Popular Demand

Usually when people say “vintage guitar speaker“, they are always referring to a late-model guitar speaker, and usually a used guitar speaker. If they say “new vintage guitar speaker” or “nib (New in Box) vintage guitar speaker“, they may be referring to an older-model speaker that is in a box that has never been opened.

Terminology regarding vintage guitar speakers

People use the phrase vintage guitar speaker this way perhaps because that is all that has been available to them in the past for such a dated model number. However, today the manufacturers of many vintage guitar speakers have resumed production.  We are buying new vintage guitar speakers right off of manufacturer assembly lines.  They may look, sound, and feel like a speaker that was first made years ago, and they may be called that speaker, but actually they were actually manufactured recently.  So this is the distinction between the  traditional concept of vintage guitar speakers, which were either used or NIB collector’s items – and what we are selling – which we call “NEW vintage guitar speakers”.  This is an important distinction for many customers.  While the original year of manufacture may have been 1967, the guitar speaker itself was made -for example – last month, or this year.  That I would call a new vintage guitar speaker.

Some complain that in some cases, the new, or newly manufactured  new vintage guitar speakers do not sound exactly like the older originals.  That was the case for our Jensen line for the first 3 -5 years.  However, those days are long gone.
